asante is a Ghanaian-American singer/producer residing in Detroit, MI. His love and commitment to music became most apparent when he chose to teach himself how to play the piano instead of playing basketball during lunch in high school. Since then, asante has intuitively developed a unique approach towards songwriting that prioritizes feelings over words, which is exemplified on his 2016 release "The Ladyfriends Collection". His most popular song, "I Know, Imani", started as a voice memo of him playing the piano and singing that he sent to his friends Dpat and atu. As a producer, asante has worked with Sonder, River Tiber, Kaytranada, Sango, and more. asante was also chosen as one of the first Motown Musician Accelerator artists in 2019. He has opened for Nigerian afrobeats artist Mr. Eazi in Detroit and Toronto and most recently joined Janelle Monae’s protege Jidenna during his 85 to Africa tour stop in Detroit.

asante is also the founder of the Afro-Caribbean experience Jerk X Jollof. The event has been based in Detroit since 2016 and successfully executed experiences in Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Toronto, Miami, Chicago, and more. Fueled by Afro-Caribbean culture, cuisine, and nightlife, resident and featured DJs at Jerk X Jollof spin the hottest Afrobeats, Soca, Dancehall, and Hip-Hop. With asante at the helm, Jerk X Jollof is a sought after touring experience for Afro-Caribbean lovers across the US and abroad to celebrate the culture.

After a handful of single releases in 2017, asante released his first afrobeats EP, sleek boy, on August 24th, 2018 after two single premieres with OkayAfrica. The remixes for the EP were released June 2019, featuring edits from Jay Daniel, Meek, and more.
